Before embarking on his legal career, Thomas trained as a pharmacist, graduating from the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Sydney. He gained experience as a hospital pharmacist, industrial chemist, and pharmaceutical marketing manager before pursuing law part-time and eventually practicing as a lawyer. In 1997, he established his own practice.
With his combined background in business and pharmaceuticals, Thomas approaches legal matters with a practical, thoughtful, and client-focused perspective. He believes in proactive solutions, often reminding clients that “prevention is better than cure”, a principle he applies to every case he handles.
Qualification
Michael brings extensive expertise in property and strata law, with experience spanning over two decades. He first joined Thomas Chang & Co in 2000 and, after gaining specialist strata law experience advising owners corporations and attending tribunal hearings, returned in 2013 as a Senior Associate.
Michael provides practical, client-focused advice across all areas of property law, including commercial, industrial, and residential sales, leases, easements, partnership and joint venture agreements, and directors’ and shareholders’ agreements. His deep knowledge and hands-on experience ensure clients receive clear, reliable guidance at every stage of their property matters.
Qualification
Patricia brings a client-focused and thoughtful approach to her work, combining extensive experience in accounting, financial management, and budget planning with a degree in Computing Science from the University of New South Wales.
Since joining our firm, Patricia has expanded her expertise to include legal assistance and has been a licensed conveyancer since 2003. Her unique combination of skills in accounting, finance, and property law enables her to guide clients clearly and practically, helping them understand how these areas intersect.
In addition, Patricia supports the principal with immigration matters and Notary Public services, providing clients with comprehensive, reliable, and well-rounded assistance across all their needs.
Qualification
Before migrating to Australia in the mid-1980s, Olivia gained over five years of experience in a legal firm in Hong Kong, specialising in commercial and litigation matters. Since arriving in Australia, she has continued to build her expertise in these areas.
Olivia’s background allows her to draw insightful comparisons between the legal systems of Hong Kong and Australia, an approach particularly valued by our overseas clients.
Her key areas of work include commercial and retail leases, business sales and acquisitions, liquor licence applications and transfers, notary public services, and support for various development projects and contracts.
Helena brings a wealth of legal experience, having worked in Hong Kong for over 18 years before continuing her career in Australia from 1997. She joined Thomas Chang & Co in 2012 as a Solicitor Assistant and has since become a key member of our property law team.
